On January 24 2020, we organized our traditional New Year Reception. This year, our team gathered leaders from Belarus, Belgium, Luxembourg and Russia in our honorary members Solvay's facilities to announce the rebranding of our Chamber with a new name (BLRB Chamber of Commerce), a new logo and a new website !
We had 113 registered participants to our event.
Mr Alexis Brouhns, President of the CCBLR Brussels, gave a an overview of our Chamber's activities and agenda for the future. He mostly announced the rebranding of CCBLR Brussels that is becoming BLRB Chamber of Commerce, with a new logo and a new website.
We had the honor to welcome 3 Ambassadors among our prominent guests. All of them gave inspiring speeches.
H.E. Alexander TOKOVININ, Ambassador of Russia to Belgium, encouraged the European Union to adopt a strategic thinking about its future, that includes a reflexion about its relation with Russia. He underlined that despite the difficult political situation, Russia and Belgium keep good contacts as the meeting of Minister of Foreign Trade Kris Peeters and Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova in the Saint Petersburg Economic Forum last June showed. He finally stressed on the importance of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between Russia, Belgium and Luxembourg Economic Union next April to reinforce our economic links.
H.E. Mr. Aleksandr MIKHNEVICH, Ambassador of Belarus to Belgium, insisted on the positive dynamics of the results of the trade cooperation between Belarus and Belgium and Luxembourg and the business opportunities Belarus has to offer to Belgian and Luxembourg entrepreneurs. His presentation was followed by a video presentation of the Great Stone Industrial Park.
H.E. Jean-Arthur Régibeau, Ambassador of Belgian Kingdom in the Russian Federation, spoke about the importance of explaining the differences between our countries and the readiness to understand each other. He noted that perception does nit always match with the real state of thing in the country. He also spoke about the success of the organization of the Football World Cup in 2018.
This year, our guest speaker was Mr. Alexander Rahr, Vice Chairman, Russian Business Council in Germany; Senior Advisor, Gazprom Brussels office. The speeches were followed by a walking dinner offering the possibility to our distinguished guests to meet and exchange in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
