On July 7 2020, the members of the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce for Russia and Belarus gathered, on the occasion of the annual General Assembly and according to the sanitary conditions in place. The members approved the activity/project reports and the accounts and budget of the BLRB Chamber of Commerce, and decided to keep the membership fee at the same level.
During the General Assembly, Stefan Van Doorslaer, CEO of Ahlers, and Stijn Vanneste from Bekaert were appointed as new members of the Board of Directors. The General Assembly also acted the resignation of Mrs Ellen Theeuwes,
The following board of directors elected Stefan Van Doorslaer as member of the management committee and new President of the BLRB Chamber of Commerce in succession of Alexis Brouhns, Senior Executive Vice President at Solvay, who has resigned while he stays member of the Board of Directors and of the Management Committee.
Mr Brouhns was warmly thanked for his presidency, and Mr Van Doorslaer thanked the assembly for the trust shown to him by what he called a well-respected association with a very strong brand: He is confident on our success, and will commit himself to spend the necessary time for this goal.
« I want to thank Alexis for his role over the last 4 years which has been challenging after the sanctions and for the great job he did in preparing the chamber for the future”, said Stefan Van Doorslaer. Further, he insisted on continuing his work “on the integration with the chamber in Moscow and focus on the changing requirements and needs of our members”.
Stefan Van Doorslaer has an engineering background and holds an Executive MBA from Vlerick Business School. Previously, he worked at Katoennatie, Komatsu and Christian Salvesen. He joined Ahlers in 2006 and held various management positions in Belgium and abroad. During the past 10 years, he successfully worked on the expansion of Ahlers in Russia, the CIS and the Baltic States. Stefan Van Doorslaer has been CEO of Ahlers since 1 January 2019. Since 2010, he is also the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the St. Petersburg International Business Association (SPIBA).
